MCS Update | September 30

It has been a great first quarter of the school year. As we head into Fall Break, here are a few things to know.

1- Fall Break: As a reminder, there will be no school next week, October 3rd-7th.

2- Spring Play Auditions: Auditions for the spring musical, Disney’s Frozen, Jr., will be held Saturday, December 3. More information to follow closer to the date. For questions, please email Tracy Moreno at Tracy.Moreno@mcstn.org.

3- MCS Movie Night: The MCS Eagle Force invites everyone to bring their blankets and camp chairs to the grass circle on October 15th for Movie Under the Stars night! Our lower school students will be voting on the cinematic feature when we return from break. Drinks and snacks will go on sale at 7 pm, and the movie will start at 8. We hope everyone can join us!

4- Updated Academic Policy For Extracurricular Participants: Our admin team has been working to clarify the academic requirements necessary to participate in extracurricular activities such as athletics, drama, and other after-school club programs. The goal is to have a policy that prioritizes academics, provides appropriate consequences for not maintaining grades, offers ample opportunities to regain the privilege to participate, and is clear and easy to understand. We believe this new policy accomplishes all these goals.

Please review the updated policy HERE.

5- Parent/Teacher Conferences: Please check your email for information from our principals concerning our upcoming Parent/Teacher Conferences that will be held on October 20-21.

6- Thank you: We want to say thank you to Mary Elizabeth Murrell for her 10 years of service at MCS. She has accepted a position at Johnson University and will end her time here on Monday, October 10.

7- Reminder: As a reminder, Laura Gribble’s last day is today. You will still see Laura occasionally as she will be helping to fill in when needed. Kristin Coldwell has taken over Laura’s duties and will be your main office contact going forward. If you are emailing the office to let us know that your student will not be at school, please email attendance@mcstn.org. If you have general school questions, Kristin will be answering the main office phone or you can email her at Kristin.Coldwell@mcstn.org.

If you are picking up your child early from the office or coming for lunch with your student, please be prepared to show ID. There are so many new families that we don’t automatically know everyone.

8- Need in Athletics: The Athletic Department is looking to acquire an ATV or Gator-type vehicle to help with gameday prep and field maintenance. If you know of a vehicle like this that is available for purchase or know of someone we can contact, please reach out to the Athletic Department at athletics@mcstn.org.
