On Tuesday February 7th, the Men’s and Women’s basketball teams picked up huge victories against the Eagles from Apostolic Christian School. The Lady Eagles of MCS put on an overall dominant performance, winning 67 to 21. They had huge games from Sophomore Kaybrie Patterson who had 20 points and Junior Maya Barnhill who had 12 Points. Senior Naomi Atchley also contributed with 7 rebounds and 8 assists. The Lady Eagles will travel to Clinton, Tennessee, to take on the Lady Dragons of Clinton High School on Saturday the 11th in their next game.
The Men’s basketball team also pulled off a big win. They took down the Boys team from Apostolic Christian School by a final score of 81 to 62. In the win, the Eagles had two seniors step up big time. Senior Eli Girbert was on fire hitting 8 three pointers to break the school record of threes in a game and finished with 26 points. The other senior who had a big night was Drew Napier. He finished the game with 30 points and went 8-10 on free throws down the stretch to help seal the win. When asked about the win Coach Brian Turbyfill had this to say, “I am very proud of our entire team tonight. They did a great job of being efficient on offense and taking the shots we want. They also locked in on the defensive end of the floor and got critical stops when we needed it.” The Eagles will also travel to Clinton High School to take on the Dragons on Saturday the 11th for their next game.
