MCS Weekly Update | August 19
The school year is off to a great start. It has been great in this second week to see our students start to settle into their new routines.
Here are a few updates and reminders for you to keep in mind.
1- We are hiring aftercare workers. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to Cassie.Williams@mcstn.org.
2- MCS Eagle Force Meeting- We had over 50 people sign up at the Back-to-School Bash expressing interest in our Eagle Force (PTO) organization. Please note that the first Eagle Force meeting will be held August 25th at 3:45 by the playground. More information can be found on the MCS Eagle Force Facebook and Instagram pages.
3- Absences- Please remember that each student is allowed 14 absences per year (7 each semester). While we will always take extenuating circumstances into consideration, our goal is for each student to stay below that limit.
4- Nurse Substitute- We are looking for a nurse who is interested in being a substitute anytime one of our regular nurses is out. If this is something you would like to know more about, please email Leanne.Caldwell@mcstn.org.
5- Fundraising for Security Upgrades: As I mentioned last week, we are working to improve our campus security. These upgrades include additional security cameras, a main entrance monitoring system, a new visitor check-in system, an additional SRO, and a new golf cart to enable our security team to quickly move around campus. The total cost of the upgrades is $56,750.
Our first area of focus is the new visitor check-in system, which costs around $2,500. If you are interested in giving to this effort, you have two ways to give. First, you can mail your check to the business office. Please write 'security' in the memo line. Second, you can give using our new online giving platform HERE.
6- It is time for the Partners for Kids Coupon Book Sale! For those of you who don’t know, the Coupon Book sale is our first school-wide fundraiser of the school year. Funds raised this year will be applied to the first phase of our security upgrades. You may pre-order the number of books you want to sell by returning the bottom portion of the attached flyer or by emailing Mrs. Gribble. Click the following link to view this year's participating vendors: https://www.partnersforkids.com/patron-checkbook
7- New Gym Sound System- We are excited to announce that we have installed a new sound system in our gym. This drastically improves our sound capabilities for chapels, athletic games, and other school events. (This was made possible through a generous donation.)
As always, if you have questions or concerns, please reach out.
Have a great, relaxing weekend.
