Here is this week’s MCS update!

It is hard to believe that we are almost a week into November. We have a very busy couple of months in front of us. Over the next 6-8 weeks there will be a plethora of athletic events, concerts, drama practices, Christmas events, and many other school-day activities. As we head into this busy season, here is what you need to know.

Email Communication: With so many upcoming events, please keep an eye on your email. This is the primary way we will communicate reminders concerning upcoming events.

Grandparents Day: We are excited to celebrate Grandparents Day this coming Thursday, November 11, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. This is an RSVP event. You can RSVP HERE.

Tailgate and Purple & White Game: Next Friday evening, November 12, from 5:00-8:00, we will be kicking off the start to our basketball season with a pregame tailgate. Join us for an evening of fun and fellowship.

Book Fair: Our Scholastic Book Fair starts next week. You can learn more HERE.

STEM Building: Progress on the STEM building is continuing daily. We are excited about the opportunity to utilize this wonderful space starting next school year. You will be hearing (and seeing) more of this progress in the coming weeks.

Students and Cell Phones: Please remember that we are asking students to keep their cell phones in their lockers. If you need to reach your student, please call the main office.

Have a great weekend!

Here is this week’s MCS update!

Life is busy at MCS. We had a wonderful fall play last Friday, and a great volleyball senior night on Tuesday. As we look toward the start of November, here are a few things you need to know.

STEM Building: Progress on the STEM building is continuing daily. We are excited about the opportunity to utilize this wonderful space starting next school year. You will be hearing (and seeing) more of this progress in the coming weeks.

ACT: As a reminder for those who have signed up - we will be hosting the ACT on our campus this Saturday morning.

Students and Cell Phones: Technology is both a wonderful and distracting reality. Unfortunately, in the classroom they are a huge distraction. We will be asking students to keep their cell phones in their locker during class. If you need to reach your student, please call the main office.

Student Lunches & Grub-Hub: We are having a growing issue with student lunches being delivered via a food delivery service such as Grub-Hub. There are several issues with this. First, there is no way to guarantee when lunches will be delivered. Sometimes they are extremely early. Other times they are extremely late. We can’t adjust our lunch schedule to accommodate a delivery driver’s schedule. Second, it increases the number of unknown individuals on our campus looking to deliver food.

We are asking that you refrain from ordering lunch for your student through a food delivery service.

No School on November 1st: As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, November 1st. This is a Professional Development day for our teachers. We will send another reminder next week.

MCS Spirit Store: You should have received the items that you ordered from the Fall MCS Spirit store. We are well aware of the shipping and production delays that caused the late arrival of ordered items. In an effort to remedy this moving forward, we are working to create both a Winter and Spring Sports store that should be live next week. We will send out more information once it is available.

Winter Sports: As winter sports begin their practices, be sure to keep a close eye on your email for practice schedules. We have 7-8 basketball teams all lobbying for gym times. We are thankful to be able to practice at MCS, Dotson Memorial Baptist Church, and Fairview United Methodist Church. Your practices will most likely take place at one of these locations, but may change from week to week. We will work to keep last minute changes to a minimum.

Book Fair: Our Scholastic Book Fair is a little over a week away. You can learn more HERE.

Grandparents Day: We are excited to celebrate Grandparents Day on Thursday, November 11th from 8 to 10 AM. This year's Grandparents Day will look a bit different from previous years. We will have a continental breakfast, performances from our choirs, and there will be a brief presentation from our Head of School, Dr. Jeremy Wallace, about the future vision of MCS. This will be a special day for our PreK-6 elementary students. Invitations will be mailed to grandparents following Fall Break. Please share this information with your student’s grandparents. We look forward to honoring our MCS grandparents.

Have a great Weekend!
