Mr. Abernathy holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's of divinity in Christian education. He served for 15 years as a youth pastor and had 1 year of substitute teaching experience before joining MCS in 2013. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons, Jake and Reed. Mr. Abernathy's favorite scripture comes from Ephesians 2:10, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

Mrs. Brown holds a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida. She received her teaching license in 2004 and is licensed to teach high school math and chemistry. Mrs. Brown and her husband, Jason, have three children, Haley, Caleb, and Kenzie, who are students at MCS. Mrs. Brown is very active in her church, Calvary Chapel Knoxville. One of her many favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11-13, "For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

Mrs. DeBusk holds a bachelor's degree from Pensacola Christian College and is certified by ACSI. This is her 25th year teaching at MCS. Mrs. DeBusk and her family are active members of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. She and her husband, John, have three children - Aaron, a 2017 graduate of MCS, Reagan, a 2019 graduate, and Jackson, 10th grade. Mrs. DeBusk's favorite thing about MCS is the students. Her life verse is James 1:19-20: "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God."

Mr. Evans holds an associate's degree from Pellissippi State, a bachelor's degree from Carson Newman College, a Master of Education from Johnson University, certified in Advanced Placement (AP) Physics, and a M. Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been teaching at MCS for 10 years. He and his wife, Carol (who is a 3rd grade teacher at MCS), are founding members of Covenant Baptist Church of Blount County. They have five children; Katy, Isaac, Hannah, Gabriel, and Michael, who are all MCS graduates. They also have four grandchildren: Sean, Sam, Libby, and baby Kate. Mr. Evans' favorite things about MCS are the students and seeing students from different denominations and different understandings of the Bible worshipping and discussing the things of God together. His favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 4: 3-6: "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so they might not see the light of the gospel of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake."

Ms. Gore holds a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Temple University and is certified by ACSI. She began teaching in 1979 and came to MCS in August 1998, where her favorite things are our awesome students! Ms. Gore has two children, Stefanie and Mathan, who are both graduates of MCS. She attends Sevier Heights Baptist Church, and her favorite verse of Scripture is Isaiah 41:13: "For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, "Do not fear; I will help you."

Mrs. Hampton holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Morehead State University with additional graduate work from both Morehead State and UT Knoxville. She has taught since 1974 and holds certifications from the state of Kentucky and ACSI. She joined MCS in August of 2005. Mrs. Hampton teaches 9th grade English and Dual Enrollment English (Composition I and II) as an instructor for Johnson University. She also serves as our ACT Aspire testing supervisor. Her favorite thing about MCS is sharing the Word every day in every way. She and her husband, Benic, have been married for 49 years and have two children, Chris (wife, Kristen) and Heather (husband, Cory), and 3 grandchildren - Samantha, Matthew, and Preston. The Hamptons are active at Seymour Heights Christian Church. Mrs.Hampton's favorite verse of Scripture is Ephesians 3:20-21: "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

Mrs. Hassenzahl graduated from Spring Arbor University in Lansing, MI with her bachelor’s degree in education. She began her teaching career in 2012 when her children were old enough to begin school. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 22 years, and together they have three daughters; Corey, Lauren, and Claire and one son-in-law, Christian. Mrs. Hassenzahl, her husband, Dan, and their daughters are active members at Victory Baptist in Maryville, where she teaches K-1st grade Sunday school classes. Mrs. Hassenzahl’s favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, [declares the Lord], plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for hope and a future.”

Mrs. Jackson holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Maryville College. She began her teaching career in 2013, and she is an alum of MCS. Mrs. Jackson, her husband, Joel, and stepson Caedon are members of a house church with Childlike Faith Ministries, where Mr. Jackson is the Youth Pastor. Mrs. Jackson's favorite scripture comes from Ephesians 3:20, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work in us..."

Ms. Johnson is a graduate of Johnson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Counseling, a minor in Biblical Theology, and a Master of Education degree in Education. Ms. Johnson joined MCS in 2017. Her favorite things about our school are that it feels like a family, we are very welcoming and caring, and we care about your story. Prior to teaching at MCS, she was a missionary for 10 years - most of that time was in Japan. She attends Maryville Vineyard church and her family includes her parents, 3 sisters, one brother, two nephews, and a niece. Ms. Johnson's favorite scripture verse is Isaiah 52:7: How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

Michael has worked in Christian schools for over 15 years, has taught Spanish for over 10 years, has led school missions trips, and developed school IT departments.

Mrs. Sellers graduated with her BA in Public Speaking and English in 2005 from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX. She is going into her 13th year of teaching, this being her first year at MCS. She is excited to infuse Biblical teaching into English class this year. Mrs. Sellers is married to Jaime, a local Worship Pastor. They have one son, Jack, who recently turned one. This year, her class scripture is Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Mrs. Wright holds a BS degree in Secondary Education-Math from Tennessee Tech University (1993) and is certified by ACSI. She has been certified by the State of Tennessee to teach math since 1993. She came to MCS in August 2009. Her favorite thing about MCS is that we all feel like a big family here. Mrs. Wright and her husband, Jed, have three sons: Joe (a 2015 MCS graduate), Josh (a 2019 MCS graduate), and Jamey (11th grade). The Wrights worship at Fairview Baptist Tabernacle Church in Sweetwater. Mrs. Wright's favorite verse of Scripture is Matthew 7:7-8: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."
