Greetings from the Athletic Director
It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the athletic director at Maryville Christian School. The MCS athletic department is committed, along with the school’s administration and board of directors, to providing our student-athletes with an athletic experience that capitalizes on the inherent value of athletic competition. We believe that participation in extra-curricular activities, especially athletics, is vital to a student’s overall educational experience as well as their personal development; emotionally, spiritually, and physically. According to the NFHS (National Federation of High School Athletic Associations), students who participate in activity programs such as athletics tend to have higher grade-point averages, better attendance records, lower dropout rates and fewer discipline problems than the general student population. Involvement in interscholastic activities teaches teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-discipline, all of which are qualities indicative of success later in life as a healthy contributing member of society.
Participation in athletics at MCS comes with a great responsibility to represent our school both on and off the playing field or court. Most importantly, however, it presents our stakeholders-- student-athletes, coaches, and parents -- a platform to share the love of Jesus Christ. At MCS, we embrace this responsibility and understand that while we will work tirelessly in preparing for competition and striving for victory, it means nothing if we forsake our relationship with Christ while doing so. We ask all of our stakeholders to Rise Up (Isaiah 60:1) above the temptations of selfishness and self-promotion that athletics sometimes brings. At times we may fail, but by the grace of God we are humbled, forgiven and redeemed.
If you are interested in being a part of the MCS athletic mission in any capacity, please contact me and let me know. We look forward to sharing our passion for Christ through athletics with you. Rise Up!
