ACADEMIC LIFE

/files/Images/prek.jpgThe Pre-School program at MCS is for three, four and five year olds. For the 3-year old class the student must be 3 by September 30.    For the 4-year old class the student must be 4 by September 30.  For the 5-year old class the student must be 5 by Sept. 30 to enroll. Prek 5 is designed for children that are age appropriate for kindergarten, but need extra time to develop emotionally, socially or academically.  After developmental screening, this placement is made by teacher recommendation, or parent request.  Children must be 100 percent potty trained.  It is an excellent program to help prepare them socially and academically for entering Kindergarten.  The children are taught in a way to encourage and nurture them.    The three year old class will be on Thursday and Friday and the four year old class will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The five year old class will be Monday thru Friday.  Times for the Pre-School are from 8:00 a.m. til 12:00 p.m.  The extended day option is from 8:00 a.m. til 2:40 p.m.

In our Kindergarten program, children are nurtured in a loving and unhurried environment, but are also presented with the elements of phonics and numbers so that they may begin reading and doing basic math before first grade.  The kindergarten program is for Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The extended day option is from 8:00 a.m. til 2:40 p.m.

The MCS elementary school consists of grades 1-6.  Students are strategically grouped into self-contained classrooms of no more than 20.  Our teaching approach utilizes effective traditional methods combined with innovative strategies that result in our elementary students performing on the average at the 75th percentile nationally on the Stanford Achievement Test.

The high school program consisting of grades 9-12 is an intense four year program geared toward preparation for college and adulthood as a follower of Christ.  A core curriculum of classes is offered along with advanced courses in English, mathematics and science.  Students at MCS have an average ACT score of 22 and rank in the top 25% nationally.  Ninety percent of our alumni have attended institutions of higher education.

/files/Images/bible picture.jpgAll MCS students take Bible classes each year that are geared toward the acquisition of the knowledge of God's word.  Beyond this, the heart of the Bible program is to help students develop a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a Christian worldview that allows them to function as effective disciples of Christ in the 21st century.  It is truly our desire to produce young men and women who are prepared for college and adulthood, both academically and spiritually.  Most importantly, Maryville Christian School wants to partner with the Christian home and church to develop young people who, "may become blameles and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life..."  Philippians 2:15, 16.

CURRICULUM

Our school's curriculum is geared toward academic excellence and Biblical integration.  We utilize a variety of texts from publishers such as A Beka, ACSI, Bob Jones University Press, Glencoe and Prentice Hall.  Our desire is to have a challenging curriculum that not only prepares students for college, but instills in the students a love for God and a Christian world-view.
