Administration

  • The Lost and Found is overflowing once again!  Please be sure to check for lost items in the small room across the hall from the office.  Items will be placed in the gym on Tuesday, January 31 and Monday, February 6.  Items not claimed after February 6 will be donated.

  • We hope to send out registration information for next year to re-enroll current students, as well as enroll new siblings, the week of February 6.  If you have a child you are planning to enroll for the first time next year, please pick up an application form in the office or download one from the school web site.

  • The school calendar for the 2012-2013 school year has been approved and is posted on the school website.

  • Please remember that school will not be in session next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, February 1-3, for teacher in-service.  School is also closed on Monday, February 20, for President’s Day.

  • Be sure to check out the new Heart to heart which is now posted on the school website.

  • The Friday Flier will not be published next week due to our abbreviated schedule.

Open House Coming Up

  • Our annual Open House is scheduled for Thursday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m.  We are asking current families to turn in the names of anyone they think might be interested in the school so we can invite them to come (see enclosed letter).  Please be sure to return these to the office by February 24.

Telephone Book Recycling

  • The deadline to turn in telephone books has been extended through Tuesday, February 28, due to the new phone books not being distributed until February 22.  They may be brought to the hallway outside the main office.  An award of $500 will be given to the overall school with the most directories collected per student, so please bring in your old telephone books to help us win and to help the environment!

Box Tops, Labels & Store Programs

  • The next collection date for labels and Box Tops is Friday, February 10, so be sure to bring in your items.

Dads and Daughters Tea

  • The Dads and Daughters Tea is coming up March 31 from 6-8 pm at First Baptist Church of Maryville.  We would like to open it up to all dads and daughters from PK5-12th grades this year, but we are still in need of several “Table Moms” to step up and host a table.  Even if you happen to be a Mom of all boys - join the fun, you can host a table! This is your chance to play with a splash of pink!!  Please send an email to dadsanddaughterstea@gmail.com  if you are interested or have questions.

Elementary News

  • A drawing was held in chapel on Monday by Mrs. Lingerfelt, our librarian. Students in grades 3-6 that met their personal Accelerated Reader goal for the second quarter were recognized.  One name from each grade was drawn at random to receive a free book and have a book placed in the MCS library in their honor.  Those names chosen were:  3rd grade – William E.; 4th grade – Jack G.; 5th grade – Patrick D.; 6th grade – Lauren M.  Everyone keep reading!

  • Congratulations to Mrs. Ivens’ fourth grade!  The entire class met their personal AR goals for the second quarter.  WOW!  They will receive a special treat from Mrs. Lingerfelt.
